Recreation & Facilities

Biddeford has numerous outstanding recreational areas and facilities to accommodate all pursuits and interests. These include hundreds of acres of recreational facilities and native areas which are extraordinary in both their quality and beauty.

Beaches

Magnificent beaches along the coast at Biddeford Pool and Fortunes Rocks are available for public use. There is ample public parking and bath facilities available. Beach parking passes are available for a fee from the City Clerk’s Office in Biddeford City Hall.

Boating & Fishing

Boating and canoeing opportunities are available on both the Saco River and the Atlantic Ocean. Marblehead Boat Launch, a State operated facility on Routee 9 along the Saco River, offers full service facilities to boaters providing quick access to the Atlantic Ocean.

Parks

The City has nine parks which offer a full range of recreational facilities including playgrounds, ball fields, tennis courts, hiking trails, etc. Rotary Park, a 75 acre park along the Saco River, also has a public beach for swimming and boat launch facility, which allows boaters to access the upper Saco River. Clifford Park, a 30 acre forested tract just off Route 9, has nature trails and serves as a wonderful “in-town” park for passive recreational activities.

Natural Areas

Biddeford is blessed with magnificent natural areas particularly along the coast which offer outstanding opportunities for hiking and/or bird watching. Particularly noteworthy is the Audubon conservancy at Biddeford Pool and the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Preserve in the Granite Point area of the City.
