Compost Dropoff Program

The City of Biddeford has partnered with We Compost It! to provide a free composting program at the Recycling Center for all Biddeford residents.

To participate in the program, residents can collect their food waste at home and dump it in the compost collection bins at the Recycling Center during regular operating hours. The bins are located to the right of the entrance of the Recycling Center. Everything that is placed in these bins MUST be compostable.

Accepted Compost

  • Fruits and Vegetables
  • Meat & Fish Scraps (including bones)
  • Eggshells
  • Paper Towels and Napkins
  • Coffee Grounds and Filters
  • Bread, Bagels, and other Baked Goods
  • Rice and Pasta

  • Plastics (utensils, straws, packaging, cups, etc.)
  • Metals (silverware, canned good containers, bottle caps, etc.)
  • Styrofoam
  • Wax Coated Packaging
  • Tin Foil

  • Leather
  • Hygiene Products
  • Pet Waste

Wednesday - Saturday: 7:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Sunday - Tuesday: CLOSED

Kitchen Pails

Residents can purchase Sure-Close Inc. foodscrap collection containers from the Recycling Center for $8.50 each. You are not required to use this container to participate in the program.

  • Vented lid allows mosture to evaporate, reducing odor-causing bacteria.
  • Stays closed if accidentally dropped.
