The City of Biddeford is seeking an energetic and people-oriented Youth and Family Services Coordinator to join the City’s growing Recreation Department. Biddeford has experienced an economic revival centered on a nationally-recognized creative community in our downtown, recently exemplified in the Heart of Biddeford’s selection as a 2022 recipient of the Great American Main Street Award (GAMSA), and Food & Wine Magazine’s ranking of Biddeford’s food scene as among America’s best. Today, Biddeford is amongst the youngest communities in Maine and is continuing to grow and transform as new residents, entrepreneurs and businesses relocate to our waterfront community.
The Coordinator plans, organizes and coordinates community recreation programs for youth and families, including physical activities, special interest classes and special events, afterschool programs, vacation camps and summer programs, under the supervision of the Deputy Director. The Coordinator is responsible for supervising full, part-time and seasonal recreation staff, special interest instructors, coaches and volunteers.
Desired Education and Experience:
Graduation from a two-year college or university with a degree in recreation or a closely related field
Two-year recreation experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Day Camp and Afterschool Childcare Experience
Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience
