[ARCHIVED] Wastewater Treatment Facility Repair May Cause Odors

July 12, 2018

Wastewater Treatment Facility Repair May Cause Odors

The Biddeford Wastewater Department will be pumping down one of the two aeration basins at the Water Street facility to conduct necessary repair work. This work has the potential to cause releases of temporary odors. All efforts will be made to minimize this possibility, but the nature of the work makes it likely some odors will escape. These aeration basins play a vital role in keeping the Saco River clean and healthy, and this is necessary maintenance.  The work will be on Friday, July 13.

Any questions about the aeration basin repair process can be directed to Alex Buechner at the Wastewater Treatment Plant at 282-1350, or Jeff Demers at the Public Works Department at 282-1579.
