[ARCHIVED] Kristy Cyr Sworn in as City Clerk

PRESS RELEASE

Kristy Cyr Sworn in as City Clerk for City of Biddeford

BIDDEFORD (November 21, 2022) — The Biddeford City Council has confirmed the nomination of Kristy Cyr as the City of Biddeford’s next City Clerk.

Cyr has served 18 years with the City of Biddeford, developing experience in multiple roles that will inform her work as City Clerk. She began her career in the Clerk’s office as an Account Clerk for two years and then served nine years as Deputy Tax Collector. Cyr was appointed to the position of Tax Collector in 2015 and served in the position until her appointment as City Clerk on November 15.

“I look forward to serving the City of Biddeford in my new capacity as City Clerk,” Cyr said. “My mission is to preserve the integrity of the City Clerk’s office and maintain the level of customer service the residents and the guests to our City have come to know and expect.”

The City Clerk has many duties, including overseeing elections and voter registration, managing Committee, Board and Commission appointments, and serving as the Clerk of the City Council. In addition, the City Clerk oversees vehicle registration, tax collection, and the processing of permits and licenses such as beach permits, business licenses and dog licenses.

“Kristy has been a dedicated employee for the City for many years, and I and the Council look forward to working with her more closely as City Clerk,” said Mayor Alan Casavant. “In this period of transition as we’ve searched for a new City Clerk, Kristy has stepped up to take on extra responsibilities like taking minutes at City Council meetings. I have no doubt that her dedication to the community and her experience and skills will continue to benefit the community in her new role.”

Retired City Clerk Carmen Bernier swore Cyr into the position on November 16. Cyr assumed the title of City Clerk immediately.
