[ARCHIVED] Biddeford Climate Task Force PhotoVoice Contest

BCTF Photo Contest Flyer

The Biddeford Climate Task Force is launching a PhotoVoice Contest to gather resident images of climate change perceptions in the community.

Participants are invited to snap a photo that represents their feelings about or experience of climate change and provide a short caption for the photo explaining why they chose the image. Entries can be submitted online by clicking on the “Biddeford Climate Task Force PhotoVoice Contest” icon at our.biddefordmaine.org.

The winning entry in each of four categories – Outstanding Youth Submission (ages 16 and younger), Outstanding Young Adult Submission (ages 17-25), Best Image of Climate Action, and Best Image of Climate Concern – will be awarded a $50 gift card.

Up to 50 photos will be selected to be professionally printed and displayed in the Engine art gallery at 163 Main Street from March 31 through May 5, 2023. A community viewing event will be held on Friday, April 21 at 6 PM to announce prize winners.

“Remember, this is your opportunity as a community member to have a voice about climate change and share your stories about how climate change is affecting you directly,” said Steve Reiter, Chair of the Task Force. “It is a way for you to make your voice be heard, particularly regarding the strategies you’d like to see the City use to address climate change.”

Participants are asked to avoid submitting photos that include people’s faces without explicit permission, as well as photos that identify commercial or private property. Entries must be submitted no later than March 27, 2023.
